Welcome to Teen Health Center

We’ve been providing quality, affordable medical and mental health care for Galveston County youth ages 0 – 21 since 1985.

Breadth of services

We offer a wide range of services for children across Galveston County, from birth through 21 years of age.  These services include:

  • Primary medical care for illness and minor injuries.
  • Immunizations, well child checkups and sport physicals.
  • Diagnosis, counseling, and treatment of learning difficulties or behavioral issues.
  • In clinic mental health diagnosis and counseling.
  • Access to specialist psychiatric help via ‘telepsychiatry’ where kids can interact with remote physicians using video conferencing technology.
  • Substance abuse counseling, education and support services.
  • Healthy living educational materials and programs.

Our goal is to ensure that your children get healthy and stay healthy, so that they can be happy and achieve their full potential in and out of school.

No cost services

We believe that ability to pay should not be a factor when you’re deciding whether to seek medical or mental health care for your child.  For that reason we offer the majority of our services at no cost, charging only a $5 fee for sports physicals.  So regardless of your income level or health insurance status, your child can have access to quality services from caring professionals whenever the need arises.

Convenient, school-based locations

Our goal is to keep your children healthy and in school for as much time as possible, so that they can achieve their true potential.  To that end, we offer both full and part-time clinics in elementary, middle and high school locations across Galveston County.  These convenient locations minimize time out of the classroom and make it easy for your children to get the help they need. Once you have signed a consent for treatment, your child may be able to go to medical or mental health appointments without you, depending on your child’s age and type of appointment.

Year round services

We offer the same range of services for your children year round–even when school is not in session.  Not all clinic locations remain open during school breaks, but your child still has access to the same quality primary healthcare professionals, mental health counselors and psychiatric specialists.

High quality services

We’re proud of the quality of people that work with your children.  Our full-time staff includes physician assistants, nurse practitioners, health care assistants, licensed professional counselors, a mental health director and an executive director to oversee the group.  We also have access to a team of psychiatrists through our ‘telepsychiatry’ video conferencing program.  Our team is not just highly skilled at the technical aspects of our job, but is trained and experienced at relating to children of all ages and from all ethnic backgrounds.  We work hard to make your children feel comfortable and safe, and to make their time with us as pleasant and productive as possible.
